  • The Medela Symphony was awesome
    Me: PCOs DH: Perfect!

  • I have the Ameda Purely Yours, which is comparable to the Medela PIS but it is more compact and cheaper.  I love mine.

  • I had the Medela Freestyle - I had to have them replace it a few months in for some wonky suction / battery issue. Then my tubing was leaking and that had to be replaced. I talked to other Freestyle owners and it seems that my issues were a fluke and not the norm.

I know GSwans had an Ameda twin pump and she really liked hers and didn't have issues with it.

Lots of people have the PISA and like it.

I think as long as you get a hands free bra / pumping bra you don't necessarily need a hands free pump. That said, I liked my pump (when it wasn't being a pain in my ass) for it's portability. I pumped on many road trips and other random places and it was very easy to carry and hide under a nursing cover.

  • I will be getting the Ameda Purely Yours Ultra. On amazon right now it's about $300, but if you buy before August 31st, then send out the rebate form before September something you can get $50 back.

  • I have the Medela PIS and I like it. I haven't had any issues with it.

You might want to check with your insurance to see if they will pay for a pump or reimburse a portion of the cost - some do. Mine would cover it if the babies had certain issues with breastfeeding or if there was any period of separation between mom and the babies.

Agreed. Like PP said, check with your insurance company. Mine pays 80% of rental because I had multiples.

  • I used a Medela Pump In Style to EP for my twins for a year...it never let me down. I would recommend it over and over again

  • I used the medela symphony while the kids were in the NICU and then the PIS once they came home to build a freezer stash.  I didn't see much difference in those two but it may have been that i had already built up my supply using the Symphony.  Does that make sense?
