CD question

We've been using our CDs for about 6 months now and they are starting to build up a smell. They don't really smell just after washing, but as soon as she pees, I can smell it. Any tips on getting the stink out? We have a HE front loader if that helps any.

Re: CD question

  • Sounds like it is time for stripping and sunning.

ETA: I love using Bac-Out. It really helps with odors and stains.

  • I agree with others, stripping and sunning.

Also, try using some vinegar with each wash.  It helps cleanse them and remove smell. =)

When do you add the vinegar?

I wash in 3 cycles: a cold rinse with no detergent, a hot wash with cold rinse on perma press, extra rinse with Charlie's Soap and a quick wash with warm water, cold rinse.

I have had zero stink issues since I started this routine almost two years ago. I have only washed weekly since J day PTed a year ago so we really put it to the test! Cold soak/rinse with baking soda, about 1/4 cup Hot wash with 2 tablespoon mix of 1 part washing soda, 1 part oxybrite (oxyclean) Cold rinse with 1/2 c vinegar Easy, works perfectly, no stink. I agree that before starting on a new routine that stripping and sunning is in order. Oh, and you should always balance vinegar out with baking soda in the first cycle to balance out the ph.
