Recently i posted that i gave my son whole wheat toast which had soybean oil in it. That was friday/saturday/sunday/monday.. today we're no longer giving him the bread..
His soy allergy is super low so i figured he outgrew it.
-So Friday he had his first slice.
-Saturday he had a few slices and that night he woke up couple of times crying. (coincident?).
-Sunday i gave him a slice and that day he showed signs of a painful diaper rash but nothing was visible.
-Monday morning my nanny gave him a slice of toast. When i came home i noticed red little bumps on his butt.. but it doesn't look like the diaper rash he normally gets. Monday night he also woke up screaming couple times again.
Would you consider this being a reaction to soybean?
I'm not use to this.. Usually he swells and gets hives. But i have seen people complain about discomfort and diaper rash. It could be a coincidence or it could be a reaction.
So i guess i'm done w/ that bread for a month and then i'll re-introduce it again to see if it happens again.
Just when i though we were down to 3 allergies.. we're back at 4. ;(
Re: F/U soy
I think your plan of pulling and reintroducing in a few weeks sounds good.
My daughter has a diaper rash all of the time. I gave up on trying to figure what is causing it. My allergist said he is fine with eczema and rashes, but not swelling, throwing up, or hives, so I just continue to feed her foods she likes and eats. Something she is eating is probably causing her diaper rash, but it doesn't seem to be painful to her or bother her, so we just continue on. I feel like a bad mom for saying that!
you are a lot more limited than i am.. so trust me, if my son had any more allergies, i'd look the other way and start feeding it to him -especially if it's not life threatening.. I think it would make me want to potty train earlier
i never realized that a diaper rash can be caused by allergies. amazes me.
