In most of the nursery pics I see, the crib almost always has the long side against the wall. Is there a safety reason for this?
I know some cribs have one long side that's higher. Ours has all sides equal height so the design doesn't lend itself to a particular orientation. I'd like to put the short end against a wall because I think it works better for the room, but not if there's a safety risk.
Any input helps!

Re: Crib orientation
As far as I know there is no risk. I think it is just personal preferance.
my read shelf:
totally a preference
We've moved DD's crib 3 total times since she came home. Our first location was great, until she started to move, and we realized she could touch the cord for the hanging lantern. Second location was fine, until we lowered the mattress and she could touch an outlet. Now we're in a great location.
I honestly wouldn't put the short end against the wall now, because the big open area in DD's room is where she often plays with her toys from her toy box.
