First of all, thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. They definitely helped and are appreciated greatly.
Long story short, LO had pain issues with bowel movements from day one. He would scream and cry. We took him to the ER three weeks ago after he was up all night screaming (and the nurse on the phone heard him). The doctor at the ER completely dismissed us as nervous parents and said, "Well, since you obviously didn't go to medical school, let me tell you how babies poop." Completely condescending... asked us if we cry when we poop (which I replied yea if you've been pregnant and constipated which he didn't appreciate). We were dismissed.
Sunday morning, I change LO and discover a rock hard nodule on his booty that's about half an inch in diameter. I call the doctor's after hours on a hunch it may be serious and we get sent to the local ER in my hometown. The ER doc looks at it and sends us to the children's hospital in our home town for surgery. We get to the hospital and it's now about an inch in diameter and even harder. They had to stick LO 5 times before the IV went in and I had to help hold him down. That was a horrible, horrible moment for me as his mother (and up there with him being fed through a tube as a newborn in the NICU). We are admitted into the PACU and surgery is set for the next morning because of LO's age and how angry the infection is. Surgery is a success... they drain more than a tablespoon of pus/infection. Preliminary cultures show it's not staph... it's something worse, but they can't ID it yet. We're sent home this morning and guess what? LO hasn't had a painful movement since...
Now we are at several follow up appointments and 1-2 more surgeries in the next 1-2 months (60% chance of this). The issue is a rectal abscess with possible fistula in ano. LO has an "earing" that's a rubber band that's looped through his left cheek on his rear. It's pretty horrifying down there, but he feels 1000% times better.
We are seriously considering legal options for the failure to diagnose three weeks ago. Our doctor even suggested looking into talking to the hospital about their mistake since it was fairly obvious that there was an issue.
When it rains, it pours and hails, and floods. Between the difficult end of pregnancy, birth and NICU, our condo getting rats, and this... it's been a hard two months...
Thanks again for your prayers. Thank you. And trust your instincts! I'm glad I did!

I'm so glad he is ok and so sorry you have had a rough time recently. Sincerely, that is really awful that you have been through all of this and I'm sorry.
And no one wants to talk about it or act on it, but I hope you all do consider legal action, especially if the doctor was condescending and rude. Maybe if he listened to your concerns instead of mocking them your baby could have been saved a lot of discomfort and treatments. Good luck in your decisions.
Wow. First of all - I'm glad that things are getting sorted out... Sounds like your LO had quite a rough time, and you guys as well! Glad to hear he's getting better. Good luck on the road ahead.
Second - whether you take legal action or not, I would definitely contact the ER where you took your LO and were so rudely and condescendingly dismissed. That doc should absolutely be made aware of the follow-up of his actions (or inactions) and be reminded of what an a$$ he was to you, when you were actually right. And that's coming from someone in the medical field who usually gives medical staff the benefit of the doubt... That doc's behavior was completely inappropriate.
