Cloth Diapering

detergent-newbie

I just got a trial kit from Jillians drawers and want to do things right. i had originally thought I would use Purex free and clear. (I read some reviews that it works very well) I chose this because we have it at our supermarket and DH is allergic to some detergents (like tide) and he isn't allergic to purex, (I am being cautious that lo has the same allergy). Anyhow, the directions from Jillians says not to use free and clear detergents. Is this just a overly protective measure or should I stay away from f&c's?

Thoughts?

Re: detergent-newbie

  • It seems for every site that says don't use it, there's another site that says it's fine.
  • Most manufactures and sellers say not to use Purex, All, Tide... etc and use special detergent for cloths that don't have brighteners, softeners along with other things. Many people use them anyways and don't have any problems and they work well for them. I stick to using bumGenius detergent because I don't want to void the warranty on my diapers and it does an amazing job for us.
