my little boy HATES cloth diapers
i am so sad! i keep trying and putting them on him but every time i do he screams! i think it's because they're bulkier but i really don't know. has anyone else been thru this? and suggestions??? i love cloth and don't want to give up yet!
Re: baby hates cd :(
at what point does he start screaming? When you take the old diaper off? After you close the diaper up? Once he has peed and feels the wet cloth against him?
What kind of diapers are you using?
History of IF and 2.5 years TTC. The day we were to start our first IUI we received a call that changed our lives forever and 10 month old Olivia joined our family. Shortly thereafter we got a surprise BFP and baby 2 is due July 5, 2012
DD1 was almost 1yo when I started cd'ing and at first she didn't care for the cd's either. She would cry as soon as I put them on, so I think she wasn't used to the feeling of them. After a while of using the cd's exclusively, maybe 2 weeks or so, she was fine with it.
I haven't noticed any issues with my nb wearing the cd's, but I've had to use a mix of disposables and cd's. I've been using both intermittently since birth, so I think she's been used to both. Maybe you might want to try using cd's a couple times a day just to get lo used to the feeling of it.
My son SCREAMED at every. single. diaper change for at least the first month, maybe two. As a first time mom I did not know that was common and was freaking out at first, thinking I was doing something wrong! Alas, it is "normal".
ETA--> We used sposies for the first 6 weeks.
Have you actually tried putting him in a sposie to see if he reacts the same way?
You can try using some fleece liners, in case the wet feeling is bothering him. DS doesn't like being wet either. Usually, though, I just save the fleece liners for nighttime and naptime (if I manage to time his diaper change right for naptime), and change him when he starts fussing. Some times it's every 20 minutes. It does take a little getting used to, but this way he doesn't have pee against his skin for very long, and it makes me very happy we CD!
Just in case, be sure to change right before putting him inthe car seat - microfiber inserts are bad about compression leaks and he could be feeling wet.
I agree about seeing if it's the same with sposies, but I'm willing to bet it's normal (even though i remember how bad it sucked).

This. We didn't start CDing until just last week, DS is now 4 months old. He HATED being in his car seat until he was about 12 weeks old or so. He also cried during diaper changes. But now that he's more aware of what's going on around him, he's more distracted and as long as I don't take too long changing him, he's happy!
I do think the cloth takes some getting used to on older babies, or ones that have previously used sposies. Keep with it! He may just be in that fussy newborn stage.
