Iron Check - 1yr appt

Did the nurse/doctor tell you what your child's level was? Doctor said anything under 11, she would run a full panel.

Nurse said DS was 11.9, I just wondered if this was on the lower end? Does anyone know if the numbers vary alot? What is the scale?

Ours was 9something! I know low but my mom and I are anemic off and on and i told the dr that and she wanted a full panel. I said no, I think it's unnecessarily invasive on a one year old. Unless she is concerned that there was another issue besides low iron, when almost 50% of babies have low iron on their one year because of the switch from iron fortified formula to whole milk...she is having ME go get tested to prove I'm anemic to put her on Iron...I'm annoyed. I just had my blood drawn 5 times one year ago and she can't use that? I think they just want my insurance...am I crazy? I'm annoyed with the hospital anyway...had to vent.
