I've posted a few times about trying to find a MN compromise for our girl choice of Margaret. DH really likes Ann, but Margaret Ann just seems so plain to me, even though I like the name Ann!
Last night I thought of Roseann. He vetoed it.
Maybe the problem is Margaret. We want to call her Maggie but want to give her a formal name. I actually adore Magdalene but DH doesn't. What are some other formal name options with Maggie as a nickname? And I definitely can't bring Magnolia to DH.
Re: Maggie names
Agreed. Although I'm a little biased... those are both of my grandmothers' first names are Margaret and Ann.

I work with a Marjorie and went to school with a Marguerite, both nn Maggie. Aunt's friend was Magda, nn Maggie (which I never understood because it's longer than her actual name) or Mags. Also have heard it used for Margot.
I like Margaret Ann, too, though!
My best friend is Margaret Ann.
Just saying.
