Max will be 4 week old tomorrow. He sleep wonderfully through the night (usually about 11pm-2am, quick nursing, then back to sleep until 7 or so). The problem is that he is refusing to nap during the day. Since the evil 3 week growth spurt he seems to be fighting daytime sleep with every fiber of his being. Yesterday he took one 2.5 hour nap around 10:30am and that was it until bedtime. (Between 4-6p he kept falling asleep for about 2 minutes, then waking up to cry.) When he is awake, he is clearly overtired and cranky and just wants to eat or comfort nurse. We know he has gas, which I am sure isn't helping anything. I am just getting very frustrated. I love my little guy, but I am not sure what to do with him or how to help him. Any advice?
Re: cranky baby = cranky Mama
I am so right there with you! Last night, DD seemed to be really fussy and there I thought last week she was on the tail end of 6-week growth spurt fussiness! She was so fussy and I was so tired I actually handed her off to DH. I haven't done that since her first 2 weeks of life! I think she had lots of gas too because all day yesterday she fed from a bottle because I'm trying to give the nipps a break. I'm not sure what would be best for your LO. I'm assuming you've tried the 5S' to calm him down? This seemed to help Liv last night, even just a little. She required a lot of rocking and bouncing, DH finally had the idea to bring the yoga ball to our bedroom so we could hold her swaddled, sideways, white noise in the background, while he or I were seated bouncing on the yoga ball. Oi!
Hang in there, sister!
peace,

Sounds a lot like what's going on in our house. I have the added bonus of my mom being here right now criticising me for nursing too much...
DD falls asleep in our arms but wakes up and starts fussing when we try to put her down in her bassinet.
And she hates her arms being bundled down so I swaddle her legs/ body but leave her arms out.
