They were my top 2 girls names, and everyone else hated them. My mom even said they sounded like 'baby elephant names'.....! I adore them though.

I love old-fashioned names. The more underused, the better. And while I think a lot of people on this board would agree with me, most of my friends and family think I'm crazy. Their suggestions usually -adelyn and -aden variations or anything in the top 10. Ughh...

I love Waverly, Lavender, Marigold and Mabel for girls. They're pretty universally despised, both IRL and on the boards....

For boys I love Arthur and Walter, but I can't even convince my husband that they work on little boys (and we usually have pretty similar taste!).

I used to be a teacher & loved learning my students' middle names.  It seemed like that was the name the kid should have--often much more unique and meaningful than the usual lily, madison, aidan, jacob, etc.

We probably would've named DD Seraphina had it not gotten a terrible reaction from those we shared it with (which discouraged DH).  I'm still hoping to use it on a future DD, although our daughters would have the same names as Jennifer Garner's...

I love it, FI hates it. Pronounced AHMA-LEENA. There is an adorable little chinese girl at the school where I work with this name. I've heard Emmeline but never with the extra -a on the end. I think its adorable
