Hi ladies,
I need some honest opinions here. DH and I are still early in our pregancy and are just starting to toss around names and we are having a problem agreeing on boys names. We talked about Theodore and then calling him Theo, but I am worried Ted/Teddy is going to stick rather than Theo and I don't really like either of those as nicknames. Opinions please? :-)
Re: Opinion on Theodore?
I like Theodore and Theo. I think if you're calling your DS Theo, it will stick. I'd be more concerned if you insisted on calling him Theodore all the time, then inevitably Ted & Teddy would pop up.
Thanks for the input ladies! It is really growing on me! DH really doesn't want a trendy name and I didn't want a overly popular one so this one might work for both of us.

What about "just" Theodore? I adore this name!! I, personally, love the nns Ted and Teddy, but when there are quite a few nns for a formal name, I typically ask if there is a nn they prefer.
So, if I met you on the playground with your little Theodore, "I would ask you do you call him Theodore, or does he have a NN?"
I hate to be presumptuous.
I wonder if you are too young for the Cosby show. Theo was one of the best characters. I love the name and think it is a great choice.
Theodore is a VERY cute name. It would have been my #1 choice, but DH has a cousin with that name already. If you want to call him Theo and introduce him that way to people, I think it will stick!
This exactly. I love Theodore and the NN Theo...I think you should use it!
My oldest is Theodore. I love Theo and Teddy but don't like the nn Ted. We call him Theo most of the time; I wanted to use that nn fearing Teddy would get shortened to Ted when he starts school.
I always introduce him as Theodore and when people ask for a nn I say Theo. Sometimes people (old ladies at church or my older relatives) want to call him Teddy and I don't have a problem with that.
Most of his friends pronounce it Feo though
