Multiples

Seriously having trouble just walking ALREADY!

I'm 13 weeks pregnant with twins and I'll be 14 weeks on Friday. I officially have had what I think are round ligament pains for a week and a half now. They are getting worse and worse! I'm having a hard time sitting (um, sitting at the movies on Friday to see Harry Potter was unbearable) and walking really hurts too. I'm OK in the morning but it gets worse as the day goes on. I'm a dental hygienist so my job isn't super active, but just walking down the hall is hurting. I'm just a little concerned because I'm not sure if it should hurt so much yet. Any thoughts?

  • I had a good waddle going on at that point.  What kind of pain is it?  RLP shouldn't affect walking that much, but you certainly are in the timeframe for sciatic nerve pain to kick in.  If it starts in your butt and goes down your leg that's sciatica....

  • My Dr suggested a belly support belt, I think you can even get them from the Dr and insurance will pay for it (I'd check first).  I have that same pain in my lower belly and it feels the best in the morning and by night time it hurts to move or even sit, laying down is the only thing that helps it. I didn't start feeling it until maybe 24 weeks but everyone is different.  I didn't really start gaining weight until about 18 weeks so that might be why I didn't get the pain right away. I'd like to tell you it gets better but it doesn't it only get worse.  I am 29 weeks tomorrow and can't wait until it is over. Good luck with your pregnancy!

I think I have this one my left side (butt) already.  It's the worst when I get up from sitting for a while.

I had the same type of pains and was diagnosed with Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction. My pain was mostly in my hips and groin, and it became so severe that I literally couldn't walk. I also couldnt put pants on by myself, as lifting my legs was impossible. Unfortunately, I think its probably par for the course when you are carrying multiples. Hope it gets better for you!

  • i had really bad RLP also, i couldn't lift my legs up to wrap them around my body pillow. mine started around 15 weeks. now that im 28 weeks, its very difficult to put socks on, step into my jeep, swing my legs around...but no more RLP, just big ol belly!!!

My midwife said I had sciatica too and it is exactly as you described.  Sorry to butt in this post, but I was told to see a chiropractor. Anyone have any experience with them?

  • My pain sounds more like the Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction. Hmmm.... it's in my groin and my butt/hips. Should I see my doctor about this??
