We're in our first ivf cycle. Scheduled to do an egg retrieval some time next week. I'm nervous and excited and trying not to get my hopes up too much. Our quest for number two has been a long journey.

DS turns 3 August 4. I can't believe how old my baby is! He's super-excited about his birthday party.

I finally got my 1st pp period, my 1st period since January 2008 and it was not that horrible. I am still apprehensive b/c it's not over yet and maybe the 2nd or 3rd one will be worse!
DS is still not saying more than a few words at 13mo but is definitely a toddler, complete with tantrums. I am still BFing once a day, before bed, I keep saying every night "tomorrow is the last time" but I am still going. I dug out a few sports bras and am wearing those for now. He is still in the "throwing everything" stage which I really want to end NOW.
DD is doing very well but the tantrums do not seem to get better. She'll be 3 in 3 mo and this is definitely the end of the baby era for her! She loves DS! It's so wonderful to see, she tells him the rules, what to do and not to do, she grabs his hand to take him where she wants him to go and loves to give hugs and kisses to all of us.
They are like 2 little monkeys, they love to mimic each other. It is especially effective when DD follows DS's every move and sound and word.
I am still looking for a vacation spot, thanks for everyone who's chimed in, the search goes on!
DD is very aware of new sounds and always needs to know what's going on. Yesterday I started the coffee maker while she was having breakfast and as soon as it started gurgling she looked up and started asking "noise?" She learned chain saw when our neighbor had landscapers over Friday night to cut up a fallen tree, and she tells me every time she hears a motorcycle (which is pretty frequent on the weekend, when another neighbor takes his out). She learned air conditioner (sounds more like "wishener") a few weeks ago, because it's clicking on so much in the heat. It's like now that she's aware of all of these new sounds in the world, she's living in a brand new house where every creak is scary until you figure out what's causing it.
I think this is my favorite stage so far. M is acting more like a little kid and less like a baby every day. He can stand on his own now (without holding onto anything). He has 3 words so far (mama, dada, dog) and he knows the sign for milk. I'm trying to teach him more signs. One of his books has a page about a baby animal drinking it's mama's milk. His new thing is he'll turn the book to that page and do the sign for milk.
We're going on vacation soon, and I'm a little scared about the long plane ride, but looking forward to getting away for a few days.
We tried giving him cheese for the first time this weekend and I think he did ok. I really hope we can start giving him cheese, because it opens up so many options! He also ate Thai chicken curry (mild, not spicy) and he liked it.
Things are just peachy at Casa de Dunphy. C is stringing together more and more words (including those pesky prepositions) and getting closer to real sentences. He's really uninterested in letters or counting past 3, but his vocabulary seems pretty big to me.
He is starting a transportation obsession. He passionately LOVES airplanes, helicopters and dump trucks and sometimes "boat on da water". I took him to the College Park Aviation Museum recently and it is an awesome place for little kids that are infatuated with airplanes.
As I mentioned in a previous post, we've had a fair amount of potty training successes lately and will try to be more proactive about it in the next month. I honestly don't know how I feel about that because I'm not ready to tackle a public bathroom with a 2 year old. Some days diapers just seem sooo much easier.
We just started solids a few days ago and he seems to like sweet potato so far. We are trying avocado tomorrow.
He is just so awesome right now. He is cuddly and happy and smiles all the time. On weekend days, we nap together and snuggle and it just makes me so happy.
Still no teeth (although he is STILL feeling pain in his mouth), but he is trying really hard to move. He has figured out how to scoot/inchworm but he can usually only make it about a foot before he ends up grinding his forehead into the floor. Yesterday he did that and then rolled a couple of times and ended up about 2 feet from where he started, but I think it was an accident.
We got family pictures taken last week and I think they're ready to be picked up today. So excited!
DD just finished up her first full week in daycare and she did great! DCP says she's so peaceful and observant of everything and everyone around her. I'm glad she's enjoying daycare but I love working PT and having those couple extra days with her. It's definitely made the transition from maternity leave so much easier.
DD is becoming such a joy to be around. She smiles at everything we do and on Saturday, at a family BBQ, she started belly laughing continuously instead of the little giggles she's been doing so far and everyone got such a kick out of that. She's sleeping well - 7 to 8 hour stretch before her 4 am feeding - and I think she's sort of transitioning out of that as she's been waking up a little later almost every day. I'm hoping we won't have to sleep train because I don't know if I can do it... we'll see how the 4 month wakeful goes.
audrey is a day or two from walking! she's been standing for months and cruising for at least 6 weeks. in the past several days, we've watched her figure out how to stand up without holding on to anything. i honestly think she's already taken her first steps at DC (they won't tell us about her landmarks, want us to see for ourselves, then they tell us!). she is really interested in walking, and i'll be surprised if she's not walking by this weekend.
tomas is such an awesome big brother, but he's beginning to get frustrated by audrey's interest in whatever he has. he sets toys aside for her to play with (some of her things, and some of his), but she only wants what he presently has. so i hear a lot of "no audrey. stop it, audrey." out of him. boy that's fun!
unfortunately, my sister got AF and a BFN on friday after her first IUI cycle. big damper on an otherwise fantastic weekend (lots of family in town to celebrate my dad's 60th).

We are 15 days away from our first baby's due date, expecting a little girl August 2nd. At this point, the house is ready, carseats are ready, family is ready, and everyone, except our little (and still unnamed) baby girl is ready for debut.
Of course, people at work are surprised that I am still here, but generally speaking my health is good, and what matter most is her health and heartbeat are good, so why not come in. Plus it makes the days go by fast as we wait for her arrival. It's also a decent escape from the heat while being productive NOT on my swollen feet. We are headed to the doc on Thursday for our weekly checkup, I am hoping for a little report of movement towards birth.
I am 33 weeks and on modified bedrest after having contractions about 1.5 weeks ago. Cervical check tomorrow. Hopefully nothing has changed. It is too hot for me to do anything, so here I sit. I was stressing myself out about all the things I need to get done, but I started catching up on photo albums and scrapbooks and it had made me feel better.
DD is up in NE PA with her grandparents for a week. I am happy for her since Mommy is boring and cranky right now.
LO is 4 weeks old today! He is doing great, eating a lot, gaining weight, even had two 4.5 hour stretches of sleep a night a go...We are STILL in NE awaiting clearance to return home...adoption process + being away from our home has been stressful but so worth it for our amazing boy! Can't wait until we can take him home!
I am headed into week 29 of our first pregnancy and feeling good. my ankles are getting swollen and my flats arent comfy for very long
We have a growth scan tomorrow since I have type 1 diabetes. I hate being high risk and I can get easily worked up thinking about all the "interventions" they keep talking about with labor. Dh is going to lead the conversation tomorrow since I wussed out last time. (DH was sick so I was by myself and was afraid to cry). They want to induce at 39 weeks, and We want a natural birth but recognize the risk of complications.... just don't want to cause them if my body isn't ready for labor yet.
We are working on getting the nursery ready. We aren't painting, as we don't want to live in our condo much longer. (although, realistically... I don't see us being able to sell soon)
I'm 21 weeks into my pregnancy with our first child (a girl, due November 24th). Things seem to be going well so far. We just assembled nursery furniture over the weekend, which took much longer than we anticipated. However, it feels nice to know that we now have a crib and a dresser/changing table for her. I'm hoping we can also fit a glider into the room before she's born, but it might be a tight fit- the room we're using as the nursery isn't very big.
I love reading all of these, but we don't have much new to report here.
DD "should" be walking based on her balance and love of standing, but she's pretty funny about the whole thing. She clearly wants the stars to be aligned perfectly before she moves forward. She actually jumped on Sunday, without holding on to anything, and landed on her feet but she won't take that first step.
DS cracks us up on a daily basis. His current favorite activities are cooking for and feeding sponge bob squarepants at his table and singing all of the songs in his repertoire...he gets pretty irritated if we try to sing along.

Good luck Smacb. I love reading all of these as well.
DD starts preschool on August 1 (she's starting with their summer camp for a month). I can't believe my little girl is growing up so quickly. Her imaginative play continues to blossom and she has a distinct love of the world which is so endearing. She is a typical 2 year old, her favorite word is "Why?" and she still cries daily. Lately she has been protesting her nap - even when she is dead tired. I just let her have quiet time for an hour and it seems to refresh her enough but I think she really needs that rest. We tried potty training with no success earlier this month. We'll try again in September. I am so glad I chose the pre-school that will allow 2 year olds to still be in diapers. I would be up a creek otherwise.
DS is getting so big. He crawls everywhere and I really need to install gates. DD was older when she got mobile and was always very conservative - he is a reckless monkey on wheels or so it seems. I love his sweet personality. When he hears or sees me he makes a beeline over and just starts singing and laughing and flirting. He loves food and it appears he has inherited my husbands metabolism since he is still long and lean. Sleep training really needs to happen, he still gets up multiple times a night, I just haven't committed to doing it.
Good luck smacb! And I hope all you ladies who are pregnant stay COOL during this heat!
We are doing great though things are crazy! We got a contract on our townhouse quickly and are putting a contract on a single family home today - I am ecstatic (with a fabulous nestie realtor!). It's going to be a change from a 40 minute commute to work and daycare down to a 5 minute commute, closer to my parents, friends, etc. It adds about 15 minutes to DH's commute and he hates change in general, but he's trying!
DS is pretty much just awesome right now. We definitely have the occasional tantrum, but usually only when he's tired. He had been making it to 6:00 - 6:30 in the mornings, but now we're back to 5:30...hoping it will change back soon! I am loving my summer off and home with him. For a little guy who talked late and I worried about forever, it was great to hear the doc say, "Wow, he is a great talker" the other day. My favorite phrase he says is "What happened?" He loves to dance, play, and just discovered the spray park, which he loves.
We're still trying for number 2, with fingers crossed!
smacb - Good luck with the IVF. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
LCCollins - Best wishes with your delivery...whenever she decides to arrive.
jeanla4c - I hope you get to bring your baby home soon.
We are doing really well. DD#1 continues to crack us up on a daily basis. She mimicks me so much in her speech and body language. Like the other day, I saw her shutting a drawer with her hip like I do. She also does these motions with her hands that mimick me when she says "it's all gone" or "I'll be right back". She's talking up a storm and it's been fun seeing her language develop.
DD#2 slept 9 hours straight for the past 3 nights in a row so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that her STTN continues. She had her 2 month check-up today and she's now 13lbs 11oz and the doc said she looks great and is healthy. I'm still breastfeeding which I didn't think would happen. Initially my goal was to mostly BF for 4 weeks but I'm still doing it and it's going well. So, I'm happy about that. Only 3 weeks left of maternity leave though so I'm bummed that I have to go back soon :-(
DD can wave and says "AAAAiiii" when she does it. As she's not babbling and it's one of only a few sounds she can actually make, I haven't decided if it's a word or not. Not crawling yet, but working really hard at it. I think it'll still be another month. She can scoot on her butt a few inches here or there.
DS actually played on a playground that was occupied by other kids today. He was going through yet another "all kids are scary, I can't be around them" phase, so it has been a kind of rough summer. Lots of staying inside and then forcing him to go to the playground just to burn off energy.
No real huge updates, but both of those things make me smile.
jean- I hope you can bring your baby boy home soon!
DS just turned 3 at the beginning of the month, it seemed to get here so quickly. Both kids will be in preschool in September, DS 2 morning a week and DD will go every morning and stay for lunch bunch once a week. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around the idea that I'll be child-free 2 mornings a week for the first time in 5 years.
On the TTC front, we're still impatiently waiting for a sticky baby. I am trying to remain calm but I've never had trouble getting pregnant before and this has been very trying on DH and I. There are still a lot of days where I think "i should be x number of weeks" and walking by the guest bedroom that should be our nursery still really sucks. I am praying that I'll be pregnant again before my due date comes around in September.

LC, We're due date buddies! I am also expecting a little girl on August 2nd!
On our front, the past couple of weeks have been busy - i finished my job at the end of June, we finally moved into our new home over the fourth of July weekend and i've been spending my time unpacking boxes, getting the house ready for the arrival of our little one. I'm thrilled to say that, as of last weekend, the nursery is finally finished and the house is completely unpacked.
I'm so excited about this little one coming but am trying very hard to be patient. I've mentally placed myself in the mindset that she won't be here until 41 weeks (statistically speaking) so that anything that happens before that is a welcome surprise. I, however, have not packed my hospital bag yet and probably should.
Love reading everyone's updates - the youngsters are growing fast!
This time last year I was in the hospital, being induced. Little did I know that it would be a full 24hrs before I would be able to meet my little sprouter! in fact, he celebrated his birth journey this by waking up at 1am.
The kid practically runs and babbles non-stop, although no actual "words" are apparent. We're also starting to get tantrums (why no baby, you can't put your hand in mommy's coffee). Oh dear.
smacb - hoping everything goes well and you can bring another little one home soon.
jean - hope you can bring your little boy home soon, too!!!
Good luck to those expecting and awaiting!
So, am I the only one with a case of terrible twos? I sure adore that little stinker, but he sure knows his own mind. Any challenge is met with hitting, throwing, tantruming, or a trifecta. His babble is becoming more intelligible by the day and he's stringing words together. He loves his new daycare and wants to go even on the weekends. On Saturday he asked to go outside, went to the car, pulled on the door handle and asked to "go." He loves visiting the pool - I think swimming classes are in order after the pool closes for the summer. He's getting so big - sniff, sniff - I think we'll be ditching the high chair for a booster and the crib for a toddler bed before long. Not even thinking of potty training, though - should I be?
Maggie will be 4 in a few short weeks. Time goes by so quickly I can't believe how much she has grown in that short time. She is telling long cute stories and really do well in learning her letters and paying attention in gymnastics. She is very excited for her birthday to see everyone in the family and have cake.
Molly is progressing with her speech and really talking a lot more which helps ease my concerns about her verbal delay. She is getting more fun and cuter every day but with it comes the bigger tantrums, NO's and meltdowns over stopping anything remotely fun. She is still a big cuddler though.

Oh how exciting and fun! Good luck with the heat this week and settling in your new home. Keep us posted on the arrival of your little girl!
DD is developing quite the little personality. She loves to talk and sing and have conversations with her toys. She follows our conversations, too. She loves to sit and bop along to music. She's becoming more interested in different types of toys, her favorite right now is her set of stacking cups. She loves trying new foods. I think she's trying to figure out how to crawl (or something) because the past few days she's been having trouble falling asleep because she moves around her crib. She also gets frustrated when she's on her tummy and can't move beyond pushing herself in a circle. I'm not ready for a mobile baby yet, though!
I'm a little late to the party since I'm in training all this week then vacation next week! I can't wait!
DS just turned one yesterday! It is crazy that it's been a year since he was born. He loves to laugh and smile. He is standing here and there on his own and getting very confident with his cruising. I think he'll start walking in a few weeks. We're moving into a new place in a few weeks as well and I can't wait. We will have more space for him to run around and there is a playground within like 100 feet of our place. He is still nursing plenty which is fine by me. I'll probably stop pumping at work in a few weeks. He is very attached to his mama. At our 1st b-day party over the weekend, he wasn't happy unless I was around. I guess this is to be expected.
He is always on the go and not happy unless he is getting into something. But he is so much fun and brings so much joy to our lives.

I'm WAYYY late but we were out of town for 12 days and I only had my phone, and its hard to nest on! but we were with the IL's which is always intereting but it was 75 degrees with no humidity!! AHH nice:-)
I LOVE DS at this age....He is a real person with such a personality! He did well with a 2 hour time change and did okay on the plane rides despite delays and having to run to make our connections etc.....i love reading everyone's updates!!!
10 weeks by CD1, although LO is measuring almost 11. Tired and hungry all the time. Will be glad when I can share with people why I look the way I do and why I'm so spacey lately!
I am 28 weeks and expecting our first little girl (we hope, she has been uncooperative at the ultrasounds) October 9th. Our nursery is getting there, we need to finish up with the curtains and wall decorations, but at least it is painted and the furniture is set up. I am excited, but getting a little nervous. Time is flying by, some days not fast enough, other days a little too fast. So far this pregnancy has been pretty easy (knock on wood). Yesterday I had my 3-hour glucose test--today I look like a junkie with needle marks and bruises on both my arms and hands. Why do they need an entire vial of blood? Hopefully this heat will go away soon because my commute is killing me, especially when the metro escalators are out of service!

smacb - Good luck with the IVF.
No real huge updates, but both of those things make me smile.
smacb - good luck!!!
jean- I hope you can bring your baby boy home soon!
