First, if you want crabs go to O'Bricki's. It's in Fells Point. And speaking of Fell's Point, it has the highest number of bars/sq mile in the country. So that's the place to go if you're into the bar scene.
IMO the absolute best restaurant in the city is The Black Olive. Its Greek and specializes in seafood. If you go there get the baclava ice cream for dessert. (pretty pricey)
Pazo is a really fun place to go for either dinner or just drinks. They do tapas.
For a very...Baltimore kind of place, try Cafe Hon on the Avenue (aka, 36th St) in Hampden. You'll note it by the huge pink flamingo on top.
If you ever go out for breakfast, try the Blue Moon Cafe.
The Ambassador (Indian, up near the Johns Hopkins main campus)
Golden West (also in Hamden)
Brewer's Art. As the name suggests, they have beer which is evidently good (I don't like beer). Their food is also awesome. It is in Mount Vernon, the cultural district.
Vaccaro's in Little Italy for dessert. Oh my gracious.
Have fun!
