Is it bad to give a toddler coffee ice cream? I LOVE it, especially since little baby won't let me drink even decaf coffee...makes me sick. But I can eat coffee ice cream...combines two of my favorite things!!!! Coffee and ice cream. So I've been eating it like every other day and my toddler really likes it. He only gets a few bites of mine...but it seems bad to give him anything with coffee in it.

I don't know if it's an old wives tale or not but my mom used to tell me not to drink coffee or coffee flavored drinks like frappuccinos because it would stunt my growth. I honestly have no idea what it refers to. Maybe the caffeine? IDK. But that's the first thing I think of when I think of kids & coffee- it will stunt their growth. Although I don't tell people that IRL b/c I don't have anything to back up the statement with! LOL. It was probably just my mom trying to scare me out of doing another thing!
But besides that as long as you're not giving it to your toddler within a few hrs of bedtime (b/c of the caffeine and it takes their bodies longer to dispose of it) I'd say it's fine.
Trust me, coffee does not stunt your growth. I used to drink coffee with my grandmother when I was like 5, and now I'm 5'10" when all the other women in my family struggle to get to 5'5". I'm not saying it's a good idea to give kids coffee, but not to keep from stunting their growth.
