DS has had a low-grade (100.6 - 101.4) fever since Thursday night. He has no other symptoms of anything being wrong. Now his fever is 103.2. I gave him Motrin about 5 hours ago, but then it went back up, so I gave him Tylenol. Should I worry? I just Googled it, and it said it could be menengitis?! I know this is probably not it, but would you worry? Or should I just wait and see?
Re: toddler fever -- no symptoms?
there are a ton of things that can cause a fever... i wouldn't stress about meningitis. with DS is't usually an ear infection- which he often doesn't have any symptoms of except fever.
i'd call the pedi if it doesn't go down by the morning- and keep staggering tylenol/motrin if it's getting high like that.
This happened with my DD - she had a high fever for almost a week (103-104.5 for a few days days) - it turned out to be Roseola, which is a harmless virus common in infants & toddlers. There are no other symptoms until the fever is gone, then the next day there is a non-bothersome rash. Google Roseola, you'll feel better!
In the meantime, you should probably call the pedi and ask what they want you to do - different pedi's want you to come in at different lengths of time of the fever, etc.
Hope he feels better soon!
