I have a BBT that I got on amazon that I have been using for years. It has a lighted background and saves the last temp, I love it. But it only gives me one decimal place....
I was traveling and forgot my BBT so I bought a new one at WalMart (ugh), but this one has two decimal places! It doesn't light and doesn't look like it saves a temp, although I could be wrong, I just don't like it in general. But I do like the extra decimal place.
What do you guys think?
Re: Thermometer- how many decimal places?
From what I've learned here, two is ideal because you'll get less "saw-tooth" or jagged lines and have a more accurate picture of fluctuations.
FF recommends: A fever thermometer, even a digital one, is not usually able to give you the sensitivity and precision you need for fertility charting.
I'd say the new one sounds better. However, you might find it messes up this cycle because it is not recommended to change mid-cycle because they may not be calibrated the same.

Yes, I was thinking that too.
I started with the Amazon BD Basal one. I found that I got too many stationary temps, like 97.3.
I like the Walmart Mabis one. I just don't like that it doesn't beep. I have fallen asleep on my BBT, luckily I temp vaginally and it stays in place. My Mabis one stores the temp as well.
I agree. If you can see a clear thermal shift with your old thermometer and you like it so much better, I would use that one.
(I think I have the same one and I like it too.)
