We want a modern name, something different..but not too crazy so that anyone gets made fun of. Any other suggestions? (nothing traditional please) thanks!
I have only thought of girl names and was going to be sad if I have a boy..ill know in a few weeks. This name makes me excited if we do have a boy. To me it is hip and strong, intelligent, edgy sounding. I just have to convince my husband. As long as there isn't some kind of bad nickname, which I can't think of, im sure he will like it too.
I think its very cute and I can't think of any bad nicknames, myself. I hope you can convince your husband, if its a little fella kicking inside you! Best of luck with names
If you want my honest opinion, I think names like Zander/ Xander make it seem like the parents are trying too hard to be "cool." (Other names that fall into this category for me: Maddox, Jaxon, Pax, and Knox. It must be the trendiness combined with the Xs and Zs I guess.) If you must use Zander, I would suggest using it as a nn for Alexander. That way your son would have a classic name to use as adult.

As a mother of a soon to be Xandar, you are very very wrong in your thinking. No one in my house is "trying to be cool" or "trendy".
I HATE the name Alexander..had an abusive ex. We are 'cool' people and want a trendy name. We look young, some tattoos, surfers, open minded..it fits us and our personalities. No old school, traditional, or biblical for me. Thank you for your opinions everyone!
For a girls name I have choosen Gemma, with the middle name of June (my grandmothers name)
I love that name because it isn't used much here, mainly in the UK.

I thought Gemma was really popular in the UK. At any rate, I like it a lot better than Zander.
Re: What do you think of the name Zander with my last name?
Good luck! I think it's a great combination!

And that would be the girls name. Zander for the boys name.
