hiker

I have the sunshine kids radian, and I *hate* the latch system on it, and feeding the belt through it (front or back). I had no idea a seat could be so complicated to install! I thought the alpha omega sucked to install. I love the Nautilus, it's SO easy to install!!

Anyway, no real reason for telling you this. I kinda skimmed your post and now I can't remember if you said you were maybe getting a radian, or had one. :) But both our older DC's are in the Nautilus's.

Re: hiker

  • I am really avoiding the Radian because of all the crazy install stuff I've seen talked about. . . especially rear facing, but it would be one of the few options to keep him rearfacing if he hit 35 lbs. before age 2.

We have an extra Nautilus.  I think I can get Leif *close* to 2 rearfacing based on his current weight/growth rate and then he can just use the Nautilus. . . it's been great for DD.

  • Colin is 27lbs already (just turned 1!!) but the Radian barely fits RF in our Tahoe, but fits RF great in the blazer because its such a tall seat. I like him being RF too.

  • I swear I'm not a crazy "extended RF to age 5" person, but I am a total rule follower.  I RF Gretchen to 21 months and was nervous when I turned her because it was so *different*.  Also nervous when I first put her in a booster (but she is just as much a rule-follower as me, so she does awesome in a booster).

Love big boys, but they create trouble in this extended RF game :)

  • And we drive a 2007 Subaru Outback (back seats are pretty small/narrow) and a 1999 Nissan Sentra which is just compact all around.

  • ha! I'm not crazy carseat freak either, but I did want to RF him longer than age 1. Jake was turned at a year because he was always screaming, but Colin is totally ok with being RF.

And see, mine are just opposite.  Gretchen didn't care at all.  Took long road trips with ease.  Great car sleeper.

Leif is generally unhappy in the car and a terrible car sleeper.  At least he has his sister.  His new game is to throw cereal at her.  Pisses her off, but it's hillarious.

LMAO!!! Colin tries stealing Jake's sippy cup out of his holder...which makes Jake yell, then Colin is mad because he doesn't get a mcdonalds smoothie of his own. LOL stinkin' kids. Always causing drama.

  • Ami, there are holes to help ease the feeding of the belt in FF mode--I hated installing it FF before I found that out!

  • I have him RF still, and my hands can't fit through that front hole. Stupid big hands. I'll look for the FF holes though when I turn him.
  • The RFing belt path sucks. I always get it caught on the metal part for the crotch strap.

exactly! and my big ass hands won't fit all the way through it. Sometimes I have Jake reach through and grab/take it from me. :) Would it have been that hard for them to make that a solid tunnel?
