I went into L&D for contractions 2 min apart on Sunday night, but I was 0cm and 0% effaced. I have been contracting, some very painfully, all week long, and I lost my MP. I HATE false alarms, but if I contract badly enough to go back to L&D and labor halts I am wondering if/how my dilation/effacement will affect his decision to discharge me vs perform my c/s. (I know this is a long-shot, but it seems like every night I awake at 4am having KILLER contractions. Since I can obviously no longer get any sleep, I would consider going to L&D without waiting to feel out if this is real labor or false labor again.) I am term, and my c/s is scheduled two weeks away.
(I do feel quite sure that I'm at least 50% effaced and 1cm dilated by now. I mean, you don't lose your MP until your cervix at least BEGINS to open, right? With my son I didn't lose it until I was about 3cm.)
Re: If you are having a c/s due to breech position, how much "progress" will your OB allow?
I don't how much progress he will allow, but my c/s will be scheduled for the 25th or 26th and I was 1 cm and 80% at my appt yesterday. I have been having some minor contractions, but nothing major at all. I hope that things calm down for you soon!
I still haven't decided if I want to try an ECV again or not, but either way I will be going in on one of those days to have a baby.
Good luck to you!
This is a good question actually. I will have my 3rd (and last) scheduled c-section (not due to breech) on 8/15 (31 more days....yahoooo!). My OB has said if I have any contractions to go straight to the hospital. That is as far as our conversation has gotten. I will have to ask her on Monday if they would do the c-section then or give me something to stop the contractions.
My guess would be if you are term and having serious contractions (basically in labor) that they would do the c-section then. I would doubt they would risk you getting close to actually delivering a breech baby. I would not be afraid to go to the hospital and risk them saying it is false labor. You are so close and contracting. I would go to the hospital if it were me. IMO, better you go and be sent home then not going and something happen.
I have never felt a contraction in any of my 3 pregnancies. DS1 was scheduled at 39w 2d, DS2 at 39w and DS3 will be 39w. If I felt a contraction, I think I would freak out!!!! I would be at the hospital so fast.....
