I am! Look at the Warrior Dash videos on YouTube. The obstacles aren't as intimidating as they look on the Warrior Dash website.
I'm not in as good of shape as I'd like to be. I know I can finish, but I want to do better than just finish. I really hope I can run the entire 3.55 miles. I'll be disappointed if I have to walk part of it.
One of the websites I read suggested checking a package of baby wipes with you stuff at gear check, so you can clean up afterward. You can donate your muddy shoes to charity afterward. If you're interested in doing that, bring another pair of shoes to change into.
My DH is a runner, and he checked out the course yesterday for me. He suggested that I tape my ankles because the ground is really uneven. He also said it would be a good idea to run duct tape around my shoes (over the laces and down around the soles) to keep them on my feet in the mud. That might be going overboard but I'm going to do it anyway.
I hadn't thought about taping my shoes. I know there is a possibility of losing shoes. I'll have to you tube some videos. Thanks for the tip. I just told Shane we need to pick up some supplies. Baby wipes are on my list. I with you about not being nearly as in shape as I wanted to be. I just don't want to hurt myself. I don't always have the best balance. I just made Shane promise me that he will run with me and not leave me behind.
What time are you running?

I'm in the first wave tomorrow, at 8 a.m. Which wave are you in?
I really don't think you have to worry about hurting yourself. I was having stress dreams about the race until I watched the YouTube videos. The obstacles are not nearly as tough as I expected. They'll still be a challenge, but not to the point where I feel like I'll either hurt myself or not be able to pass them.
We aren't until 3. I just watched the you tube. It looks less like a run and more like a massive group of people walking from obstacle to obstacle. Now I don't feel nearly as nervous.
Good Luck!! I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. Maybe next year we'll have to have a Seattle Bumpies team.

I am going Sunday, and this thread makes me a little less nervous. We are in Chelan right now and I am eating too much junk and lazing around in the sun...not the best prep for a race!
I think I'm doing the duct tape thing, and the baby wipes tip is awesome! I was also going to fill my car with towels to sit on so I don't get my car filthy.
Really- watch the you tube videos. They made me realize that their are so many people there a) it's hard to really run and b) the obstacles are pretty slow going. We'll give you a report back. :-)

A bunch of my coworkers are doing it this year but I couldn't get off work (and I was afraid I'd be too exhausted after getting up at 2:30 am for work and working 10 hours). A bumpie team would be awesome!! I would totally do it!
Ok, I did it! I was slow, but I ran the whole way! Woohoo!
Here are my tips:
1. The muddy areas are WAY slick. They are only going to get worse as the day (and the rain) goes on. Slow down or you'll fall.
2. When you get to the horizontal cargo net, the fastest way to go is sideways. Try to get a spot near the edge, where there's more tension in the net.
3. Don't try to stand up in the mud pit or you will lose your shoes. I took two steps and my foot was so stuck that I had to get my running buddy to help me dig my foot out.
4. Definitely bring a change of clothes. You will be so caked in mud that it will be hard to walk.
Have fun! I thought it was a blast. The obstacles were just challenging enough thhat I felt liek I really accomplished something, but not so tough that I was worried that I was going to hurt myself.

Thank you!! You did it! Way to go Coreen! I am so so ready. 3 o'clock can't come soon enough.
