High-Risk Pregnancy

big body

I just had my u/s today, and they said that LO body is measuring 3 weeks ahead but her head is right where it should be measuring.  I don't have another u/s for 4 weeks, I am worried that she is going to have a huge body and a small head. Has any 2nd time moms had this problem and the baby evens out by time labor time comes around.

I have been doing good with my GD diet and my numbers are mostly good. I have a few that might me high but that is it.

Re: big body

  • Well, I'm a FTM but maybe this will help.. my baby girl has a bigger upper body as a whole whereas the lower body is mostly on target (measured 2 weeks ahead on head, chest, arms at growth u/s @ 28 weeks). My next growth U/S is 8/4.

They are expecting that my baby will have macrosomia.. which I have looked into and it seems to just be a larger birth weight for the baby. HTH, and good luck to you!

  • I was told the same thing at my growth scan today, and my last son was the same way as well--average size head, larger abdomen.  It's rather typical of GD babies.  It didn't even out for my ds last time, but it was easier to deliver a big stomach (it "squished" easier) than a big head.  :-)

Don't worry... If it doesn't even out by delivery, it will as Baby grows on the outside.
