Adding friends and sending PM's?

I was just wondering if anyone knew how to add friends and also how to send PM's to other people? TIA.

    To add friends, I would stumble upon friend requests in my profile (under My Friends) and add (or not) as I went along.

    To send a PM, find a post from that person. At the bottom of their post, there's a Contact selection. Click on it and choose Send [Person] a Private Message from the drop-down menu.
