I have a cakeball question - and I'm not even going to make lewd ball jokes, but just know I'm thinking them.
I'm making cake balls for a birthday and I'm using pink Wilton candy melts for coating, it says they're vanilla flavored. I was thinking of doing a strawberry cake mix with maybe a cream cheese or vanilla frosting inside. Has anyone done a fruity combo for their cake balls? Was it good, or should I just stick with chocolate? What's a good combo?
For some reason I'm thinking chocolate won't mesh well with the vanilla coating, I don't know why. Maybe because I remember the vanilla flavor being really sweet vs. their chocolate flavor?
Re: Fruity balls!
I have done Strawberry cake with the pink candy melts. I have actually made them twice, once with strawberry frosting, and once with cream cheese frosting. They were both very good!
(also very good for the future, is Strawberry cake, with milk chocolate coating.. yummmmm)
This. Chocolate covered strawberry balls. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Oooo, lemon. That's a good option too! No, I'm going to attempt, and God help me, to make piggy cake balls for a barnyard birthday party for my niece & nephew. My sister asked if I would do the dessert table for their party, yay for projects!
I vote lemon cake with strawberry frosting. And I vote that you make me some.
