Mommies that feed LO organic baby food...come in

Here is my question..did any of you your LO's have any problems digesting/processing organic baby food? The reason I ask, is because twice this week a couple of hours after feeding my LO organic baby food, she has vomited. I am just curious if other mommies have experienced anything like this...TIA

  • No, I've never experienced this.  Was it the same food both times?

  • Ditto - and I've never fed DS anything but organic food.

What was the brand?  And per PP's question, was it the same food each time?

I'm thinking it may have more to do with the brand/type of food and less with the fact that it's organic.  Organic just means that it was grown without pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, etc - so I wouldn't think anything about it would aggrivate a wee stomach....quite the contrary, in fact.

Or maybe your LO just has some stomach issues and it's non-related?  DS had some post-nasal drip a few weeks ago and was throwing up constantly due to that.

  • The brand is Plum baby, and it was two different types of fruit.

As for Saturdays episode, we think it was a stomach virus, but last night the event was totally isolated, and she only vomited once. It just has me a little leery about trying the organic food again.

  • DS will sometimes spit up a little more with some of the fruits - mostly things with berries or more acidic fruits. However it's not isolated to just the organic brands so it's more the type of food rather than how it was grown or processed.

This. There is something going around. I doubt it's the food.
  • She has had banana from Gerber, and blueberry based fruits from Gerber and there had been no problems. They were opened fresh, and I checked the expiration date and the packaging has 2012 as its expiration date.

  • Also, we use Earth's Best and have never had an issue. We're pretty brand loyal, so all her baby food is Earths Best, as well as the oatmeal, formula, and teething biscuts. Check out the website - there are coupons for your first purchase of products of the brand.

YES!  We've ONLY done Earth's Best, too!  It's.....the Best.  Stick out tongue

  • it has nothing to do with the fact that it's organic - gerber makes organic food, too. It's either something with whatever the food was, or something with that jar, or something on the spoon you used to feed her, or a completely unrelated virus she caught. All "organic" means is that the ingredients in the food were grown without pesticides and artificial fertilizers. it doesn't make the food fresher, less fresh -- nothing.
  • My LO doesn't like a lot of the Plum baby foods. He will gag almost to the point of throwing up. I don't know why and it's mostly just with this brand. Otherwise we have not had a problem.

  • Thank you for all the feedback ladies. Maybe it is the brand, because we have used earth's best before, and not had a problem. Guess I should have stuck with the stuff she has had before. Lesson learned.

  • We use Plum, Earths Best and HappyBaby.  Never have had a problem with any of them.

  • My son only eats organic food and we do Plum, Sprout, Earth's Best, HappyBaby, and Gerber...we've never had an issue with any of them.  Our favorite are Sprout and Plum!
