Depends on your point of view. I follow a primal diet that says that our bodies weren't meant to consume legumes (peanuts are legumes, not nuts). So I eat almond butter instead.
However, I think if you get all natural versions of either that don't have added sugars or oils in them (so skip the Jif or Skippy), either are comparable.

In short yes, but it also depends on which one you buy (roasted vs. raw).
If you are comparing Jiffy to a roasted almond butter, I would say yes, almond butter is still better since it won't contain the added sugar and hydrogenated fats that conventional peanut butter has.
Organic peanut butter found in your local health food store is a much better option and should be made of simply peanuts and oil.
However, the one of the true benefits of almond butter over peanut butter lies in the fact that you can buy RAW almond butter (this is the best type). You cannot buy and should never eat raw peanuts.
Almond butter is also usually higher in fiber and contains alkalinizing properties where are peanuts do not (they are acidic). I believe almond butter has more vitamin E, calcium and magnesium as well.
So I guess it really depends on what you are looking for when you say "healthier".
Not to mention almonds are almost ALWAYS included as part of a "healthy" snack on diet programs. Peanuts are not.
I buy the organic, no sugar added kind and I think its healthier than peanut butter. But I only eat at most a tablespoon a day; its still a lot of calories.
