Unactive ladies hoping to get active

Just wondering if there are any out there.

I was pretty active prior to getting pregnant but since becoming pregnant it's thrown me for a loop and physically I just haven't been able to. I'm hoping to fix that soon and also hoping I'm not the only one out there :)

Re: Unactive ladies hoping to get active

  • I'm with you.  I used to work out but since getting pregnant I'm too exhausted to work out.  I found out working out doesn't give me a boost of energy it wears me out even more.  I'm just hoping by 2nd tri I have  more energy and this constant feeling of tiredness goes away.

Yes! I felt worse every time I tried to be more active. Even on a regular day I can run myself down to the point where I'm just sick (not throwing up) but feeling like I was run over. Tongue Tied

My dr said there are some women that feel like working out give them a second wind, and others that are more exhausted.  I dont feel bad about working out because I know that it probably isn't good to make myself so tired.  I'm just making sure I'm eating well to counter act the not working out.  So far so good.

  • This is me too.  I ran a 5k at 4w5d.  But since then I've been on two business trips, have been exhausted by the time it gets cool enough to walk, and recently it's been storming every day.  MH was talking about joining a gym, which would alleviate most of the issues, and next week is my last work trip until October.  I feel awful from being so sedentary, so I can't wait to get moving again.

This is definitely me, too. I miss running! But at the same time, there are days when just putting on the ol' sports bra is more investment than I seem to be able to manage...

  • I hope to get more active second tri when I'm (hopefully!) not as tired and nauseous.
  • I have been so miserable and the walking makes me more nauseous.  We did a family walk tonight.  Going for a wagon tomorrow and hoping that will get me going better during 2nd trimester...

  • That's me!  I'm partly nervous and mostly exhausted.  I'm walking some on days I feel I can or really haven't done anything else.  I miss rock climbing, gymnastics and goofing around (boy cousins and goofy husband= too rough for first tri) and I'm really hoping my energy comes back as well as the ability to move around quickly without turning Ick!.  I'm finding yoga a little boring but will probably give in to that for a bit if nothing else peaks my interest.

  • I was pretty active before my BFP, continued to be for weeks 4 & 5, got a summer cold week 6 and was hit with the extreme fatigue at the same time. I have been in survival mode for the last 3 weeks and feel bad for not going to the gym or walking but at the same time I just don't have the energy to do anything after work except nap and lie on the couch.

I'm also hopeful that 2nd tri brings back my energy so I can force myself out the door the gym at least 3-4 times a week.

  • I used to run and work out a lot.  Last summer I ran a 10k, and several mud races.  We did some grueling hikes in Hawaii, and then I was still running in October.  Then it went all downhill.  I had my first m/c and pretty much stopped working out.  I tried sporadically for a month, but then it was cold and I gave in to couch sitting.  Then I had a 2nd miscarriage and plummetted into a lazy depression.  Then I had a surprise pregnancy right after the miscarriage and I've had no energy and been nauseous.  I've been trying to walk at least, but I feel like it's not much at all.  I want to get back into doing something, but the motivation is still low.  I looked at my pilates DVD and thought it looked painful becuase of all of the ab work. Embarrassed I'm hoping to get myself motivated and start using our home gym.  It's really nice and I spent so much money on equipment.  I HAVE to start doing something.

  • I've managed to keep up my workout schedule, but they haven't been the usual sweatfests and I've taken the intensity down quite a bit due to my energy. Still, I am really motivated to keep fit. I've been reading more on natural labor and everything says you'll have a better time if you are fit. They also say that the back pain in the last trimester can be managed better by keeping strong back and ab muscles now- it'sw pretty decent motivation. :-)

Hmm, that is good motivation.  I was pretty fit before as well, and ran quite a bit, but I was so paranoid once I got my BFP.  I tried to run with a heart rate monitor and my slowest jog had my heart rate at 160.  I haven't felt that nauseus and actually feel so much better when I go for a nice vigorous walk.  I'm just so dang lazy, and I've been indulging my cravings way too much!!  MUST GET MORE ACTIVE!!  I think I'm going to try a run-walk routine now, so I don't overheat.  It's heard when it's the dead of summer and super humid everyday.  I guess maybe the gym is the answer.

Honestly, after years of watching my weight the thought of just gaining and gaining  and not being able to do anything about it is kind of terrifying to me.  I know it's somewhat inevitable, but I'm hoping to keep the gain within the reccomended levels.
