So I had my first appointment today and it went great, but I was discussing my concerns about the fact that they don't an ultrasound until 16 weeks unless there is a problem, the np could see it really upset me. Soooo
during my pelvic she winked at me and said well, I'm having a hard time feeling the size of your uterus so lets go ahead and do an early ultrasound. I'm having it next week. YAY.
(FYI) She actually was not able to determine the size of my uterus because it sits too far back, so the only way they can monitor fetal growth right now is the ultrasound. But she knew I would be please to have the u/s
Re: 1st appt, funny story
That was nice of her. I actually had my first ultrasound today and I'm 8 weeks also. I guess it depends on the doctor.
It is completely normal to not have an ultrasound until 16-20w gestation, unless you opt for the NT scan or have a legitimate medical reason. Which you don't.
ETA: I didn't find any aspect of this story funny. In case you were wondering.
Thats so awesome of your dr to do that!!! I was very surprised when my obgyn did our first sg at 7+3!!!! It was a beautiful sight, especially the look on my DH face, his smile was from ear to ear!!!!!
