Newb question -- Flip inserts

Can I use Kawaii inserts in Flip diapers? Just ordered a bunch of Flip one size diaper covers and realized they don't come with inserts. That said, are most inserts interchangeable? TIA!

I wouldn't. You don't want microfiber to touch LO's skin. I use the organic flip inserts, but from what I understand the stay dry inserts have cotton or something on one side (the side that goes next to LO's bum.). You can use a prefold, cotton, bamboo, or hemp inserts though.

If you had a pocket diaper (Like Bum Genius for example) you could interchange the pockets no problem because it wouldn't be touching the skin.

Pocket diaper inserts are typically interchangeable, but Flips aren't pockets.  Whatever insert you use will be directly against the baby's skin, so you don't want to use a microfiber insert (like Kawaiis).  You could use prefolds and fitteds under the covers if you have them and don't want to purchase Flip inserts.

This exactly.  It is easy to tell the difference btw the mf side of the stay dry flip insert and the cotton side - much smoother and the "small" and "medium" stitching is on the back.
