Running Shoes

I'm looking to get back into running.  Where is the best place to purchase a good pair of running shoes?  I went running on Monday and my shins are killing me.  I'm sure the shoes I was wearing were not good for my run.

I used to buy mine at the Running Company in Morristown. My last pair I bought at Sneakers Unlimited on Rt 23, but they just closed. I think there is a Road Runner Sports on 17.
