What bloodwork should be done to investigate luteal phase defect? I have had two cycles of 9 day LPs, and a couple with 10 day LPs. I have an appointment next week with my family doc to get some investigations going. I think LPD is due to low progesterone? Do I need CD21 (ie. 7DPO) progesterone levels?
Any advice would be great!
Yes. It is a quick blood draw and easy-peasy.

I'll play. Within one day of implantation what is the average amount of HCG produced? Obviously this has many variables, but what is the average?
I bought the pregnancy tests online that detects 10 ml of HCG. I'm trying to do the math to calculate if I'm out assuming a 10 dpo implantation time (crazy, I know - I blame the 2WW).

:: butting in:: Easy, but if your insurance doesn't cover testing it could be pretty pricey. Mine was $495. :: butting out ::
Maybe it depends on how it was coded. I, personally, wouldn't consider that IF testing.

My sister in law showed me this website, babyhopes.com, and if you put in the date of your period and how long your cycle is it will magically tell you when you ovulate, when your most fertile days are and (if you want to) when the best days are to have sex for a boy or girl.
The site said I should ovulate on CD 21 if I had a 28 day cycle. I had a 30 day cycle and ovulated on CD 19. So I ovulated two days sooner but my cycle was two days longer. Is this site just a guessing thing and more just for general info? (Do you think, of course, I don't expect you to be all knowing)

I think your SIL, while having good intentions I'm sure, gave you bad advice. Oing on CD 21 and having 28 days cycles is NOT a good thing. That's only a 7 day LP. That site is a pure guess if you don't have the sterotypical 28 day cycle and O on CD 14. Instead I suggest reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility and signing up for FertilityFriend and at the very very least take the tutorials. It is a free site to join--click on my ticker.

Hi everyone!! My only question is for anyone that has PCOS, or knows a bit about it. I think I have a gluten allergy, I read some book that 85% of women with PCOS have this. Does anyone here follow any Low GI diets or Low Carb diets? Trying to find some other ways to loose weight, metformin and exercise don't seem to be working. Thanks!!

I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here since I did not start this thread, but I have this exact same issue and there's more *possible* blood work that 7dpo testing...
Your doc may also want to do CD 3 b/w to check your FSH levels. It truly depends on what type of LPD you have. Most** LPD are related to poor FSH levels/ weak O. This in turn can create low progesterone levels/ poor lining development/ premature demise of the corpus luteum after O. I will find out more next week, as I go for my 'what do we do next' appointment with my new doctor.
Here's a few things I found interesting to read about LPDs- sorry they're not clicky, I don't know how to do that on my Macbook. Good luck!
**ETA: I did say most LPDs are related to FSH levels/ weak O, but I did forget to add that there are some cases in which progesterone levels alone could be the culprit. It's difficult to tell unless you get a full work-up to figure out what is causing the low progesterone (poor FSH levels, or weak progesterone production from the corpus luteum after O.) Kind of like the chicken and the egg situation unless you investigate everything.

What makes you think you have a gluten allergy? Gluten-free isn't a low carb diet necessarily..and not everyone loses weight on it.
I've had a lot of issues lately with the PCOS. With reading more about it, some of the symptoms I know that I can relate to the PCOS, too many to list here. I just wanted to know if anyone had heard about it. Totally new to all of this and not sure what info to believe or not to. It's all a bit overwhelming.
As for the diet thing, I have tried the metformin and exercise, that's not working. So didn't know what sucuess people had with the Low GI or Low carb plans.
Sorry if I confused anyone.

I have my annual next wednesday, where I will be discussing testing with my OB. What questions should I write down to remember to ask? I'm going to take about my 10-11 day LP's, possible cd 3 BW, and obvioulsy, my CF effecting my CM. Just wondering if I am forgetting anything. I only ask because I know some ladies have seen their RE's lately, and that is my next step.
I have my alarm set for 6am everyday to temp, lately I have been waking at 5am (or around 5). Should I take my temp then, or wait until 6am when I normally temp? Usually the wake up it just to look at the clock and adjust my pillow or something, not actually getting out of bed.
ETA: thought of another question
10-11 day LPs are within normal limits. Do you drink green tea or use Pre-Seed? I'd start with the OB first since you've only been TTC for 8 months.
If you just look at the clock, roll over, and go back to sleep temping at your normal time should be fine.

From what I understand Metformin won't do you much good unless you are on a low GI/low carb plan. My RE told me to start a low GI plan when I started Metformin, because it wouldn't really do what it's supposed to do otherwise. I've heard a lot of people recommend The PCOS Diet Cookbook. I haven't read it personally, but I think it can be found on Amazon.
Also, I wouldn't jump to conclusions about having a gluten allergy. From what I understand the symptoms of PCOS can be similar to the symptoms you get from a gluten allergy. (If you mentioned you had been diagnosed with a gluten allergy I apologize, I must have missed it.)

Although a 10 or 11 day LP is within normal limits, it doesn't mean progesterone isn't low and that it's long enough for an egg to implant. I've had anywhere from 10-12 day LPs, and I have very low progesterone. I think it's a good idea just to check it out.
