Changing diaper on plane

How do you do it?! Indifferent Where do you do it in the bathroom? And do you discard the diaper in the bathroom? Or put it in a plastic bag and discard it once you land? TIA!

Re: Changing diaper on plane

  • Ive traveled by plane many times with DD....and yes change LO in the bathroom, just ask the attendant which one has the baby changing table, i dont think all of them have one. Dont forget to take a blanket or something to put under LOs head and bum bum, i cringe to this day imagining DD touching it. lol... I have little diaper baggies on a roll, depending if its a stinky or not i just put the diaper in the bag and throw it in the trash in the bathroom on the plane

  • If possible, put LO in an overnight diaper so you don't have to change pee diapers on the plane.  When we've had a stinky one, I leave the dirty diaper in the bathroom garbage - I can't imagine carrying a stinky diaper back to my seat, even in a bag.

Most planes have changing tables over the toilet, some smaller planes don't, and that's a total PITA.  I changed DS standing on top of the toilet.

  • Some plane bathrooms don't have changing tables.  I've had to change DD on my lap before.  It's a total PITA!  I definitely would put the dirty diaper in a bag and throw it out in the bathroom.

  • i would find out if the bathrooms have the changing table, just to warn you, the changing tables on planes suck and are totally at an awkward placement. unfortunately i learned the hard way that planes even had them-once i didn't know, changed a crazy poopsplosion at my seat (because i was panicking and my daughter had a stomach bug that whole day- NIGHTMARE...but that is beside the point)

anyway, after that, the flight attendant RATHER curtly informed me that there was a place to change her in the restroom. oops! Tongue Tied

AHAHAHA! Big Smile I can totally see me doing the same thing! I'm glad I asked because before DD, I never paid attention to if there's a changing table in the bathrooms. I've only flown Southwest with DD and their planes don't have changing tables.

  • I don't think I've ever been in an airplane bathroom with a changing table.

I sit on the closed toilet and change DD2 on my lap. So far it has worked better than trying to keep her from twisting and rolling off the toilet.

  • One of the bathrooms had a changing table on each plane I went on.  It was cramped and grossed me out, but whatever.  I put the diaper right in the trash can in the bathroom.

  • bathroom.

If it doesn't have a changing table, there is still room to do it.

Its not easy, but its doable.

No matter what, do NOT do it in the seat or aisle. Thats gross and disrespectful.

  • The planes we were on did not have changing tables in the bathrooms. I sat on the toilet with the lid down with DS laying in my lap. DH helped change him. It was a PITA but it worked. I put the diaper in a plastic bag and threw it in the bathroom trash.
