Your 5 or 6 week Ultrasound?

I am 6w4d along according to my LMP I had some light pink spottting yesterday, and I had my first ultrasound today.  My bladder was empty and the tech couldn't see anything through the abdominal wall, so she tried transvaginally. She said that it didn't look like a 6 week pregnancy but didn't say how far along she though it might be. I know my dates can't be off by more than a couple days though.  I had my HCG drawn today (1145) and have to wait until friday for the next one so I have no idea what is going on, but the nurse practitioner who read the US report said it didn't look good.  She said that the report didn't say that there was a visible yolk sac, just a small collection of fluid.  It is also possible that my pregnancy is ectopic, although nothing was seen in my fallopian tubes on US either.

How far along were you when you got your first ultrasound? If you were around 5 or 6 weeks, what were they able to see?

I went in at 5w5d and only saw gestational sacs with nothing in them.  I went back at 7w2d and had babies/heartbeats.  If you were off a bit or had a late implanter maybe there is just not a yolk sac yet.  Good luck to you.

I had a similar situation as you, I spotted around the same time. I had my u/s at around 7 weeks and they were able to see everything they needed to so to determine viability.  Maybe you were a bit too early still?  Implantation can happen in a large window and that could change your dates, especially this early.  Good luck to you.

I had an u/s at 5w4d and saw only the gestational sac.  We have another u/s tomorrow morning and I expect to see the heartbeat.  Just a few days can make a BIG difference.

I had an US at 5w6d and we saw a heartbeat. However the technician said that the heart would have only started beating in the last day or so, and that we were lucky to see it

I was 5w2d for sure because I did IVF and at that u/s, we saw gestational sac and yolk sac.  I then went back at 7 weeks exactly and saw/heard heartbeat. 

Hoping that everything is ok for you!  I bet the repeat hcg level on Friday will tell you all a lot more.  Good luck!!

My 5w4d u/s showed a gestational sac, yoke sac and beginning of a fetal pole. I had an u/s a week later and we had a heartbeat.

I had some spotting @ 6W and went in for an u/s at 6w 3d and saw a HB.  I hope your dates are a little off and everything will be okay for you.  T & P!

I had a u/s when I thought I was 6 weeks 2 days. I was actually 5 weeks even. They saw a gestational sac and a yolk sac that was too small to even measure gestational age, so they guessed 5 weeks.

I went back exactly 2 weeks later and saw baby and heartbeat and measured 7 weeks 3 days!

I had a rough start b/c my dr thought I was having an ectopic pregnancy too, since I was rushed to the ER w/severe adominal pain @3wks, where they confirmed once again that I was pregnant. They found a huge mass on my left ovary and couldn't rule out a cyst so they suspected possible ectopic instead. I never had a cyst before. I was in and out of the my dr's office getting my betas checked and getting a transvaginal u/s every couple of days. At 5wks 2days they saw an empty sac in my uterus, which ruled out ectopic, but we still had to wait to find out if it was a viable pregnancy. I was still getting my betas checked and they were rising but lower than the dr. expected. At 6wks 5days they finally saw our LO on regular u/s w/a strong but flickering heartbeat. I was going through fertility treatments when I got my BFP, and my betas weren't that great to start with, but now they are normal.  I guess my baby was a late starter as they say. Hopefully yours will be too. When are due to go back? Please keep us updated. I'm sending you my strongest and deepest T&P that everything turns out okay....

I had an ultrasound at 5w3d and all they saw was a gestational sac and yolk sac.  I was a little freaked out because I had a blighted ovum last June and I was worried that it was happening again.  But at my 8 week u/s, there was my little peanut with strong, healthy heartbeat.  It is my profile pic.  Had my NT u/s at 11 weeks and I couldn't believe how much LO has grown in 3 weeks.  Bottom line, I wouldn't worry yet.  Give your peanut time to grow.  My T&P are with you.  Good luck

Basing how far along you are on your LMP is not always the most accurate. Do you know when you O'd? Do you have regular cycles? I ended up being a week behind what my LMP put me. So try to be patient (I really have no business using that phrase toward anyone lol) and hopefully Friday will bring you some good news.

The only possibillities for when I conceived were June 10, 11, or 14.  I don't know when I ovulated, but those were the only days we tried. Thank you all for your replies.

If your level wasn't at 2000 yet my dr. told me you won't beable to see anything on the ultrasound. I hope that helps. Maybe they can do another ultrasound when your levels are higher.

My first u/s was at 6wks 1 day.. sak.. yolk sak.. heartbeat.  Heartbeat was slow and faint that early but it was there.  That's really strange that your HCG level is that high though but they couldn't see anything.  Hmm.  I really hope this all works out for you!!  WHen are they doing another ultrasound? I would want a repeat.. that seems crazy.. especially  being that they didn't see anything in your tubes.

I was 6w3d on my first u/s... My uterus tilts back so they had to do it transvaginally. I could see the sak, and we actually got to see the heartbeat!!!

I had an u/s at 6w6d and saw only the gestational sac.  We have another u/s today, hope to see more now and hear better news

i had my first dr. appt and transvaginal u/s at 6 wks 2 days.  we only saw a gestational sac and yolk. the dr. didn't seem concerned (although i was hoping to see more) and said everything looked good.  ready for next week when we get to take another look.
