Question for Mom's with 2+

Hi Ladies,

I'm lurking from TTC but I was just wondering when you became pregnant with #2, did your other child become more attached to you? Did they not want you to put them down, or just wanted to snuggle with you more than usual? Any answer is appreciated.

  • I haven't noticed any changes in DD's behavior yet.

  • I think I'm still too early for him to really get it.  I'm 12 weeks tomorrow.. showing but nothing that he would be able to connect with a baby.  He's 2 and a half.  I have told him that there's a baby in mommy's tummy.. mainly because he jumps on me a lot and it was actually pretty funny.  He pulled up my t-shirt.. started pretending to dig around in my belly button.. said ' I got the baby momma.. it's all ok now!'.   lol Oh toddlers.. the things they say.  I think when I start to show he'll connect more with it.

  • I'm pregnant with #3. My first two are only 14 months apart,  so when we found out we were expecting #2, #1 was only 5 months old. As far as he remembers his little sis has always been in the picture :)  My kids are now 3 1/2 and 4 1/2 and they ask questions about the baby but there is no jealousy or anything.

  • I haven't seen changes with my 2 boys either, they're both always clinging. Its cute, my youngest is 2 and we showed him the ultrasound and he pointed right to the baby and says "baby" or if you ask him "where's baby" he points right to the lil bean. Then there are other days i've been like mommy has a baby and he goes "noooo". My oldest is almost 4 and he knows and is happy and I guess since he has already been through it with his lil brother he's just like "I will feed him and put him to bed.. or "when's the baby coming out." Toodlers are toooo cute! But congrats to you!!!

You deserve a medal! I'm sure your kids will love that they are so close in age though even later on in life.

I haven't seen any changes.  DS is always more snuggly with me but that is normal for him.

  • Nope, no changes any of the times. My first two are 16 months apart so DS was just a baby when I got pregnant with DD. Now they're 2.5 and 1 yr. and they're not acting any differently  :)

  • It might just be a coincidence due to her age, but my DD has been SUPER clingy lately. I love her, but it's annoying that she won't even sit on the floor and play with her toys for longer than 5 minutes anymore. She won't do anything without me.

Same with me - my son is 13.5 months old and has just become super clingy.  It is starting to drive me batty.  I think it might just be his age though.
