Can he force me to chose a certain insurance or doctor for LO?
I suppose it is a control issue on my part, but I am unwilling to have him put LO on his insurance (it is supposedly free for dependents which I find doubtful). Besides I already have LO enrolled for state insurance which is pretty darn close to free.
As for a doctor, he wants to interview the new list of doctors. We are moving and so need a new pediatrician and I have a list of doctor recommendations to choose from. He has always had his name down in our file as someone who could call the doctor and ask questions but he has never shown any interest in being at a doctor's appointment. He stopped going to those after just one month. I don't care if he calls to ask questions (I really don't think he would actually do it) but can he really say yes or no to the doctor I chose?
Re: Insurance and Doctors and Ex
Yes to joint legal custody. And Ex has always been aware of the names and locations of LO's doctors and specialists and I have always had his name down as someone who can call and talk to the doctor about LO.
But if I decide that Dr. X or Clinic X is going to be LO primary care physician, can Ex really stop me from taking LO there? How can he stop me from doing this? We have an awesome clinic, a wonderful doctor, and when we get referrals we go to great specialists. How can he stop me unless he has proof that Dr. X/Clinic X has a bad reputation? I would understand that he can choose Dr. Y during his assigned custody times, and I wouldn't argue that as long as it is nothing huge to deal with, in which case for something huge she should be in the ER and not a clinic.
