chocolate covered oreos

I just saw some cute decorative ones online and it struck a cord in my head...I got these as a party favor or from some event in the past and for the life of me, I can't remember.

I remember talking about how easy they were to make.  I want to say the entire thing was not dipped, but just the top?

Anyone seen these or know an fun easy way to make them?

Re: chocolate covered oreos

  • Misha made them for a Bumpie shower, IIRC.  They were delicious!

  • YES!!!  That was it!  I knew it was a favor.  What is her trick?    Those were FANTASTIC...and I hate oreos.  :)

  • I haven't made them but I'd imagine you just use those chocolate melts, and dip em.  :)

  • It was my shower! :-)  Hate to give away her tricks, but I did ask about it, too.  They were awesome!!  She used a mold, filled it with the chocolate and then the Oreo. So only one side has coating. I was going to make some for DH's office, so I went looking for supplies.  Michael's has molds that are actually made to fit Oreos.  There are only about half-dozen designs though.

  • you could just put them over a baking cooling rack over a cookie sheet with wax paper and then pour chocolate over them. that way the top and sides would be coated and the bottoms would not be. then since the extra falls on the wax paper you could scoop it up and reuse it to pour more.

It would be so easy to cover part of it! (It seems like covering all of it would be a PITA.) I love D's idea to pour choc over them with waxpaper below.
