PPD?

Anyone around that has struggled with PPD that would be willing to share their experience with me? I'm having some trouble and think it might be ppd and I'm feeling kinda alone. If you don't want to comment here feel free to PM me.

Thanks ladies.

Re: PPD?

  • I didn't get diagnosed, but I have suspicions I may have had PPD.  It took me a really long time to bond with DD and just based on the feelings I had the first 4-5 months I am pretty sure I did, especially combined with the sleep deprivation.  Talk to your OB about it and see if they can give you something to help.  I really wish now I'd said something instead of just soldiering through it all and being miserable.

  • I didn't have PPD, but the lack of sleep, anxiety of being a new mom and going back to work is enough to put anyone over the edge.  I think once you go back to work and fall into a routine you will find some peace.  Sleep helps too!!!  DEF talk to your doctor just in case....but it did take me about 10 weeks to feel back to normal and it did take longer sleep stretches to make me feel sane again :O)

  • I did not have PPD but rather PPA.  I had the anxiety aspect.  I obsessed about everything, what if while walking down the steps I bumped her head into the railing.  I have been on Zoloft since Alice has been 8 weeks old.

  • It definitely took me about 10 weeks to feel normal again.  Hang in there.  Once DD started sleeping better at night and I went back to work and got to socialize and there was more of a schedule the anxiety and the sadness have mostly disappeared.  The first few months are rough, but you will make it through :)
