...Born fitting into OS...

Did you see this?!!?  At least she had a c-section.  I don't think anyone's pelvic bone would allow this.

Re: ...Born fitting into OS...

  • I saw a video clip the other day. That woman looked exhausted!!!

This is exactly why I'm trying to watch my weight. I don't want to give birth to a mega-baby.

Your weight doesn't really correlate to having a big baby.  I only gained 17 pounds during pregnancy and had a 9lb 1oz baby.

Very true. I only gained 10-15 pounds (I think probably 12ish) and DD was 9 lbs 11 oz! I was 10 pounds below pre-pregnancy weight 10 days after giving birth because I was all baby.  I had no GD or blood pressure issues.

This mom had GD though, which definitely contributed to it.

  • As soon as I saw the headline I told my husband that I bet she had gestational diabetes and sure enought she did.  I can't remember the last night I read about a huge baby where the mother didn't have GD

My story is opposite, I gained about 55 lbs and had a 6lb 15oz baby. And I'm only 8 lbs away from my PP weight so not too bad!

I was on the fluffy side pre-pregnancy. Watching my weight gain and what I eat are things (according to my dr) that I can do to help prevent GD.

  • My doc thought my guy was big at 37 weeks, he's measured 10 days ahead the entire pregnancy and we know the conception date because we did IVF and now I am 5 days overdue.  I'm completely freaked out that I am going to have a giant baby that will fit in my OS stash right away.  I wish he would come out already.

  • I had GD with both pregnancies. The 1st I controlled it with diet, DS1 was 6 lbs 12 oz. 2nd pregnancy I was put on meds and was still on a super restrictive diet and DS2 was 7lbs 13oz. I gained about 25lbs each pregnancy. When I see stories like this it makes me wonder if the mother tried to control the GD at all. With proper diet, excercise and meds it can be kept under control and the baby won't get so big.

Yeah I gained 44lbs and had an 8lb baby.  I was soooo worried he was going to be huge!

I had diet controlled GD.  But, I think I would have had a bigger baby either way.  I was born at 34 weeks and was 5 lbs 12 oz... I always wonder what I would have weighed if I would have made it to term.

I am betting she didn't control it...
