April 2011 Moms

Yeah - I'm THAT mom

Andrew has a bit of a cold and was crying/screaming inconsolably this afternoon. As a precaution I called the triage line at the pedi and they asked me to bring him in since it was possible that he had an ear infection and since he's so young they wanted to look at him.

As she was examining him he was laying on the table, smiling and cooing like everything was just fine.  So I look like the crazy mom who runs to the doctor at the first sign of something being wrong.

Oh, and he's just fine - with a little gas.  Oh well, better safe than sorry I guess  :)

  • I did the same thing when dd had baby acne, I thought it was a bad rash even though in the back of my head I knew what it was. I have a feeling that won't be the first time.

  • I did the same thing about a month ago when I saw some red mucousy blood coming out of his mouth. Turns out he had a sucking blister that had popped and bled a bit.

Well they asked you to bring him in.  I took Olivia because I thought she was wheezing (myself and oldest DD have asthma).  She was fine it was the way she held her head when she was asleep.  DOH!!

You're not the first and definitely not the last.  I'm a strong believer in calling the nurses line to ask questions.  And it seems like they are always responding to bring little one in for the dr. to look over. Really, they're (drs and nurses) are asking you to be THAT mom!

  • I was that mom twice in one week.  Once for a flat head question that they made come in to discuss and once for a rash that turned out to be eczema.  Both were within a week of the 2 month appt so.

  • I've been THAT mom a million times in 4 years.  No worries.  And just a warning, this will happen a lot...he WILL make you look like a liar at the doctor often.  Just part of the job of mommy :)  Glad he's okay!
