Usually Isabel because that's how it is spelled in Spanish, but it depends on the origin of the first name. I don't really see the value added by the additional -le since it is still pronounced the same unless you're going for a certain overall feel of the fn & mn combined.

I always think the same thing when someone asks which spelling for this name.  Though out of the two options you listed I prefer Isabel.  The extra -le doesn't do anything for me.

I've also always liked Isabelle better.  The whole point of the name, for me, is to get to the "belle" part.  It's on our long list of MN options if we have more than 1 girl (as in not making the short list for girl #1).  I so wish I could use it as a first name but with the popularity of Isabella, I just don't want to.

I think it depends on the first name.  To me Isabel = Spanish or Latin, Isabelle = French.  Depending on the first name you use one might look like it flows better.

I'm French, so I prefer Isabelle.   It's more feminine and prettier.  Isabel just looks incomplete to me.
