I'm itching to get out there. The last time I ran was my half marathon in October then I found out I was pg the next week and my doctor said no running due to my history with complications, so it's been a really long time.
Obviously I'm not going to push it, but I don't see myself waiting till the 6 week appt either....I'll end up calling in the next couple weeks and ask what my dr. thinks.
Since it has been such a long time, I will probably just start out on the first week/day of C25K, that seems pretty doable and if it feels like too much I'll just walk more.
How long did yours say to wait? I had a regular delivery.
Re: When could you start running after delivery?
2012 Goal: working towards pre-pregnancy speed!
04/15 KI Metric Marathon/16.3 m (2:05:55, 7:43 pace)
05/06 Frederick 13.1 (1:41:09)
11/04 NYCM
I did my 1st run at 4 1/2 week pp and had no pain/problems. I stopped bleeding and started working out at 2 1/2 weeks and probably could have ran then too, but just took it "easy" for a couple weeks more to make sure.
Better to wait a couple extra weeks and make sure everything is okay then to rush it and have a complication and be out way more time than you would have been originally.
Good Luck!
My midwife cleared me to ease back into running two weeks after a relatively uncomplicated vaginal delivery.
That said, I ran all the way through my pregnancy. I think that if I'd stopped running earlier in pregnancy I would have needed a bit longer to be ready to start again.
With baby #1 dr cleared me at 4.5 weeks.
With baby #2 I started running at 3 weeks. Ran a 1/2 marathon 13 weeks pp.
