Internal?

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get checked again today at my appointment.  Problem is - DH just texted me and said he has a meeting now and can't make it to my appt.  Do you think it's a big deal for G to be in the room during an internal?  I can give him my phone to play with to distract him.

Re: Internal?

  • I don't think so..but I drag Enzo everywhere with me (blood draws, u/s, internals...)

Park him by your head- I always turn my head and "chat" with him....

  • Your DS is obviously older than my DD, so I guess it is up to you how many questions you think he will ask and what you want to answer.  I have had dd in with me for all my appts bc of DH and I working opposite days.  I find sitting her facing me helps bc also she can see my face.  But sitting behind me would work too since there is a sheet that covers you.  I give her food and books bc that distracts her well, but ya a phone is good too unless he calls some random person.
  • I just had a pap with Paul sitting on my chest, I couldn't help but laugh the whole time.

You could probably just try to keep him near your head, I just know Charlie would be asking about what was going on, he is so nosy/curious. I've always been fairly open with him about the whole birth process so I wouldn't mind. You could always just refuse the internal though

Please feel free to bring her over here for your appts!

  • I have the same problem- my next appointment is my GBS test and my MIL was supposed to watch Rosie but now she can't.  I'm going to try and reschedule, but in case I can't and Rosie has to come with me, I'm going to put her up by my head.  Unfortunately, Rosie cannot be distracted at Dr.'s appointments, she's way too interested in what's going on.  I'll put her in a chair, and as soon as the Dr. comes in she pops up out of the chair and comes over and starts asking questions.

If he asks questions, you can always say you're getting a special checkup that only Mama's get.  I find something vague like that usually works, unless Rosie decides to ask, "Why?" constantly, in which case I try and change the subject!

  • He's been with me to all my appointments but the other time I had to have an exam, DH was with me and took him out of the room at that point.  I have a snack and my phone with games, so we'll see how this goes...
  • Maybe a nurse would be able to sit with him for a minute and just talk to him. Good luck!
