CDing

got some questions for our CDing mommas!

* Anyone do CDs at daycare? Maybe a dumb question... If they just toss in a wet bag and I take home at the end of the day, will the CDs be okay without being rinsed off all day? Or does anyone use hybrids? Seems like a good option for daycare?

* Anyone done the Jillian's Drawers trial? Just want to make sure I'll actually get a refund if we go that route... I can't decide if I want to do the trial or just start buying a few different kinds. Any thoughts?

* From all my reading, absorbency at night seems to be an adjustment when switching to CDs... what have you found that works best?

Excited to get our stash going! Smile TIA!

Re: CDing

  • We CD at daycare,  they just toss them in a wetbag and we pull out the inserts when we get home, and everything goes in a big pail until we wash.  We don't don't rinse,  I'm not sure why you would want to either,  then your diapers would just be sitting in more wetness before you washed them. Now that she's older and we have to get the poo off I actually think it peels off easier when it's had a bit of time to dry out. We use BumGenius pockets and a few AIO's,  all velcro we have a few snaps but I don't send them to daycare(unless they are already on) so it takes them less time.

We don't CD at night.  Huggies overnights all the way

  • oh another question -- are all wet bags made equal? seems like it wouldn't matter what brand you get/use but thought I'd ask Smile
  • We use hybrid diaper users at daycare. It was easier for us and them - don't really have any icky to take home. We use flip diaper covers with gdiaper inserts (which are biodegradable). We just send a couple covers each day. We do have cloth inserts we use at home but the flips with cloth are not my favorite (fuzzi bu z are). We aren't really 100 percent cloth these days though, we use disposables too. We always use disposables at night (buggies overnight).

  • We also cd at daycare. I use Thirsties Duo diapers with aplix/Velcro - I don't even need to unstuffy the Ditto PP about rinsing and the poop being even easier at the end of the day. It's not a big deal at all. We do use cloth over night - mostly fitteds with a wool cover. I have a mix of mostly WAHM brands. As far as wet bags go I've found that combo wet/dry bags work best for us. Put the clean diapers in the outer pocket then your DCP can toss the dirties inside. It keeps everything together and easy. I'm partial to Leslies Boutique, Monkeyfoot Designs (etsy) and Planet Wise.
  • I think I recall drawstring bags containing smell better. I think ours are bum genius and they work great. I definitely checked out the reviews online choose!

  • I've been cding at daycare for a year and a half now.  We use the flips with organic inserts and I like them.  I send 3 covers and 5 inserts (now that he is older...when he was younger I sent more inserts) with a wetbag everyday.  Usually the bag gets emptied at night.  We do rinse the diapers.  They sit a little wet in the bigger wetbag at home until wash day (usualy every 3rd day).

I know many people like to use A-I-O diaps for daycare as it is "easier" for the providers.  I guess it depends upon your daycare, your budget, and what you like/what works for your family.

I've not done the Jillian's Drawers thing.  We tried flips on our own, found they worked, and didn't try anything else.

For night, we do use the flips.  There was a little while when L was still taking a bottle of milk before bedtime that would cause him to go more.  We added a hemp insert and usually another microfiber insert to help.  Once we weaned him of that bottle, we went back to just the normal insert.

I personally believe not all wetbags are the same.  We have some planet wise and a bum genius, and some other ones.  Some have zippers, others have drawer strings.  Some smell more than others imo.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

  • As far as wetbags I really like the ones with a strap on the end.  It's just easier to carry
