Ariadne?

I obvi first heard this in the movie "inception" but recently looked into a little and it is agreek name with a lot of history behind it.

not neccesarily a contender for us, but I was curious to hear everyones opinion on the name. To me is sounds beautiful, but a little strange...

Immediately makes me think of a spider, because of the Greek myth. Next thought is the actress Ariadna Gil, who is super beautiful.

I think you're thinking of Arachne. Ariadne was King Minos' daughter who helped Theseus through the maze in Crete.

Really pretty name, but I don't think my husband would like it.

A close friend of mine has a daughter named Ariadne who's nickname is Addie.  I love it!

Oops! I am, but my gut was to think of the Arachne myth, so my opinion on the name stands, even if it makes no sense whatsoever.

What about just Ariad? That sounds kinda cool. I like this name. Maybe I will make it a guilty pleasure.

to be completely honest, i love unusual names, so props to you. But this I just stared at, and stared at and stared at. I havent seen inception, so I had no  clue what you were talking about. Until I read the arachne comment i had no clue how to pronounce this. not one little clue.

Arachne is one of my guilty pleasure names. I weave, as a hobby, and I think it would be fun to tie that into a baby name, although I most likely never would.

The connotations it carries for me are really good, but the name sounds clunky when pronounced. Ah well, I still like it.

I totally love it. I've always been a sucker for Greek mythology, and am a huge fan of unique but not made-up names.
