Anyone else dilated or effaced?

I had to go to L&D yesterday per my OB for some pains i was having.  Everything checked out okay, but they told me I am 1cm dialated and 50% effaced.  They said that was normal, and sent me on my way after my observation was complete.  They showed me the cervix on the U/S and the LO is all the way down. 

 Is that seriously normal?  How did i not know that i would dilate already?

Im due a few days after you, and I feel like I am not even close to being ready to have my LO.

This may be a stupid question, but how did they find out you were effacecd? Did they check you internally?

I'm 2cm and 80% effaced...and having regular contractions that I can't feel (but the fetal monitor is picking up).  OB says to take it easy this weekend to see if I can head off a pre-37 week delivery.  I suddenly have a LOT of sympathy for people who have been on bedrest for weeks and weeks - one day on the couch and I feel like I'm going stir crazy!

I'm also 1 cm and 50% effaced. I'm trying not to get too excited because I was at 1 cm and 100% effaced for almost a month with DD... I'm hoping my body will progress a little faster since this is my second, but there's no telling!

I'm just a couple of days ahead of you and I'm a little less than a cm dilated, 50-60% effaced, and my cervix is short, 1.6 cm. LO is head down and low. I'm on bed rest for a couple more weeks.

I am 1cm and 25% effaced. I found out at 33.5 weeks, and they put me on bed rest until 36 weeks (this Sunday).

I am sure once I get off bed rest, I will really start to progress. She dropped today. I can feel the pressure.

This little girl dropped today too! Interesting.. I kept hearing about how second babies don't drop until labor... it freaked me out a little bit at first.

I am a fingertip dilated and 90% effaced. My doctor said that I was making great progress so I'm not worried at all. I just hope he stays put until at least 37 weeks!

I'm dilated to 2cm, 70% effaced, with baby at -2 station.  My 36 week stats with my first baby were 1cm and 50% - so I definitely think this baby will be another early bird.  I had DS at 37 weeks 6 days, and I'd be shocked if I went past 38 weeks with this little guy.  Can't believe I'll have a second baby soon!
