I need a quick, crowd-pleasing side, please

We were invited to a gathering this evening (yes, basically no notice), and were asked to bring a side to share. I have zero chance to really prepare anything, and will need to pick up ingredients on my way home. I will have less than 30 minutes to change, pack up kids, and prepare said sidedish.

Does someone have a fantastic idea? Otherwise, I will end up bringing chips and salsa.

My quick go-to side is an orzo salad.

Cook orzo - takes minutes to cook.  Cool in fridge with a little balsamic salad dressing mixed in (olive oil makes it not stick and the dressing gives it flavor).  Add chopped cucumbers, cilantro, tomatoes, and some pitted kalmata olives.  Voila - done, easy and super tasty.

Or, Orzo with pesto (store bought refrigerated pasta section) and toasted pine nuts.  (add a little shaved lemon peel if you want to jazz it up a tad)

Honestly, I would just grab some pasta salad from the deli section of grocery store... My grocery also has good Pre-made dishes like Buffalo Chicken dip.
