My daughter's birthday is September 9, 8 days after the public school cutoff. I've been told that some private schools have their own cutoff dates and will admit her if she passes their readiness test. Has anyone hear of this or know of any schools that do so? Most of the private schools I've seen have a cutoff of September 1 too. Am I still supposed to ask? Just curious. Had I known, I would've been induced a week!

Happy Friday gals!
Re: How to get around late birthday for school?
I would love to know this but am not holding my breath. My girls' birthdays are September 10th and September 26th. LOL.
Happy Friday back at you.

Maybe begging a private school, but definitely not a public school. It's not up to them, it's up to the state.
There's no way around it. But, when I taught kindergarten, I did notice that the kids who turned 6 early in the year were definitely more mature than some of the other students which helped their readiness to learn. Of course, the other kids were fine and I had one who turned 5 the day school started. He was very immature and didn't get the rules. But, by the end of the year, he had caught up with the other kids.
What i suggest (which is what I want to do for my DD) is to find an advanced program that will go beyond the regular kindergarten curriculum since she will probably have 3 years of preschool by the time she starts kindergarten.
