So my LO self-soothes by sucking on his hands and arms. I know this can be a hunger cue also, and I constantly feed him, but he still sucks his hands. I offer him a pacifier too, but sometimes he just wants his arms/hands. Well he gave himself a hickey-type bruise from sucking on his arm. It's sort of funny, but I don't want LO looking bruised. Has anyone else's baby done this?

DD does it usually while she's crying when she wakes up hungry. No bruise or anything yet though.

DS does it too but hasn't bruised...that will be interesting to explain. Good luck with that. haha

DS sucks his arms mostly, sometimes his hands if they manage to make it in his mouth. I don't think they'll suck that hard to give themselves hickeys!

At least its a hickey, and one he gave himself at that! 2 days ago, I was loading our LO up in his ridiculously difficult to fasten car seat, and managed to pinch his little leg. He screamed like I've never heard him scream and he's got a little bruise. I felt sick to my stomach about it; especially since he goes to the doctor tomorrow for shots and a 2 month check up. I certainly feel like I'm on my way to the Mother of the Year award!

My LO sucks on his hand and arms too. He hasnt bruised though...yet.

He did however suck on my arm near my wrist the other day while we were at the docotrs and he left a hicky on me!

dd1 used to suck on my chin when she was hungry and gave me a hickey. now i know better!

I'm with you. My lo definitely gave himself a hickey on his little arm. It cracked me up. He was falling asleep on my chest and I didn't even notice. I did take a picture though.
