HH, DD, and my need to travel to a funeral. We will be driving (typically takes 8 hours but will be longer with DD) and staying in a hotel while there. I EBF and am milk and soy free. Any tips? Recommend snacks to take or any tips!!

Re: Tips for traveling while milk/soy free
https://www.goeggless.com links to a bunch of chains websites and what items they contain. It states the ones that don't have milk, but doesn't include soy so that's why you have to look. I'd probably pack a few pb-j sandwiches, fruit, and chips for the road.
i would totally stack up on snacks -loads of them!
Cereals (cheerios, chex, rice crisp, honey comb, kix...) - just make small bags out of all of them so you have verity.
Crackers (carrs crackers is soy/milk free)
i would do some research on health food stores near buy. You can probably buy fries at fast food places, but not sure what else.. i'm sure the buns have soy in them. if you eat meat you can get grilled chicken, grilled fish pretty much anywhere.
We are milk/soy/egg/nut-free. We just made a 9 hour trip to visit the in-laws. They live in a remote area with few chain restaurants (so nothing with ingredient listings). I tried calling some little restaurants before we left, and some of them told me they don't always use the same ingredients/recipes, so they couldn't guarantee that anything would be allergen-free. There was a Wendy's nearby, so we ate there a few times (baked potato, salad, chili).
For snacks, we packed fresh fruit and veggies, pita bread, tortilla chips, and rice crackers
I just wanted to mention that not all fries are safe. I thought that and got McDonald's fries and she was so upset that trip. McDonald's fries have a dairy coating on them! I would have never thought of that!
i agree. I haven't even tried any since it's usually shared with nuggets that have egg batter on them. I don't trust fast food places one bit. I never knew about the dairy coating.. good to know.
Actually McDonalds chicken nuggets don't contain egg or dairy - they do have wheat. The fries do however have wheat and dairy. You can google McDonalds ingredient list and get a whole document on it
ha - this shows you how much i know. I really never even attempted to look up fast food ingredients b/c it scares me w/ all of his allergies. Even if they are safe, i might just not even tell my DH b/c i would rather keep him away from that food.
Lara bars are a good snack for road trips and are dairy/soy free. They also have lots of good flavors! My favorites are coconut cream pie, chocolate coconut, and cinnamon roll!
